I visited the site www.feministing.com, and found a great article on how there is a rise is the number of untrustworthy sexual reports being provided by teenagers. This article brought up some great points about "sex-negativity" and the stigma around sex being considered something dirty. I have always been a proponent for comprehensive Sexual Education, including teaching safe sex, and this article completely backs that up. In high school, I was taught abstinence, and I believe a direct effect of this the fact that 15 girls from my graduating class, a class of about 200, are pregnant or have already given birth in the year and a half since graduation. The site as a whole was really great, as it provides information on topics that all people should really care about and be up to date on. I also really applaud the fact that they had current information in the shootings involving Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. Great website.

Good points, Melina! I agree--comprehensive sex education is a key component of women's health concerns and enacting reproductive justice. Sounds like this article really touched on the seriousness of these consequences and detriments to our health. It is important to acknowledge how various cultures, even within the U.S., reflect such negativity and stigma in both similar and different ways. I like how the article specifically pointed to the "fear and stigma of teen sexuality." How does this relate to our discussion on teen mothers and single parenting? If we embrace teen sexuality and praise teen moms, we serve to agitate and disrupt the status quo and hegemonic ideology of the "ideal mother."
