This website is completely amazing and I have never seen a thing like it before. It is also my first time blogging, so to say the least this is a very new experience for me and I feel like I've already learned so much.
On this website, there are a lot of really neat ways to access feminist websites, activities taking place on our campus or in our community, and to reach out to others just like us. The first thing I saw was the facebook symbol at the top left of the screen, informing me that I can tell a friend about anything that I see or learn on this website and everything it has to offer with one quick press of a button. I thought that was a great way to really expand our ideas and views to the entire world. I then noticed the bulletin going down the whole right side of the page, which informed me on the different feminist websites according to each week and what we are learning in class. Below that were feminist activities that were taking place here in Corvallis in the next month. I thought that was a really great way to get involved in my community or at least have the option to, and see what the feminist activist have to share with me.
The last thing that I did on this website was check out the first website on the right side of the page, www.feministing.com. It was very interesting and enlightening. It was explaining our abstinence until your married program in the school systems and even came along with a fun youtube video. It basically was stating how the abstinence is just not practical for our children these days and how we need to be showing how to carefully protect yourself from STIs and unplanned pregnancies. The youtube video explained how naive the abstinence program is and how they are teaching our children that women are stay at home, nurturing mothers and men are strong, working men. It then informed me that we, as tax payers, pay over 1.5 billion to fund these abstinence programs here in the United State and contact information on how I can get my voice heard.
As I said before, this website is amazing and I can not wait to explore it a little more. I am very much looking forward to this class and everything it has to offer.

Megan, I really appreciate your enthusiasm about the blog! I think what you are speaking to is this idea of broadening our ideas of what "community" means in this virtual world. I think there can be so much activist work done and connections made on the internet to further the movement for social justice. I hope you continue exploring these blogs and, perhaps, use the facebook symbol to share with your social networking community too! :)
